JENNY CAMPBELL is the Director of Jenny's Dance Centre and has taught on the North Shore since 1989. Jenny grew up in the Cincinnati area and began training at her mother's dance studio in Ballet, Tap and Jazz. Her teaching experience also began there, working with children, teens and adults. Her additional training was at DeWeese Academy of Dance Arts, Contemporary Dance Theatre and College Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati. Jenny's performing experience includes featured dancer with Norwegian Cruise Line, and Six Flags Great America. She has appeared in Norwegian Cruise Line advertisements for national magazines and was also a featured dancer with the Lake Shore Dance Theatre. Jenny's choreography and dancers have won numerous top awards both regionally and nationally, and have been selected for Joffrey, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Houston Ballet & The Rock School intensive training programs. Several students of Jenny have been college dance scholarship recipients and have gone on to perform professionally. She holds her Associate I Teaching Certificate from the Cecchetti Council of America. Jenny and her husband of 20 years have two daughters.

MILANA ASTORINO graduated from National Louis University with a B.A degree in Sports Management/ Exercise Science. She received her exercise group instruction and personal training certification from American Council on Exercise. Milana is a certified Zumba instructor and engages herself in dance/fitness workshops to always keep up with the latest changes. She teaches fitness dance classes for all ages. Milana started taking ballet, jazz, and modern dance classes at the age of 6. She began competing in sports dance competitions at the age of 15. The competition combined three elements that Milana loved: A) Dance B) Athleticism C) Gymnastics. In 1993, she took second place in the National Reebok Championship. For the past 20 years, she has taught at various fitness clubs, dance studios and schools throughout the Chicago and North Shore area. Currently, Milana is training/coaching individuals of all ages and types, including dancers and athletes who want to improve their skill level, well being, and performance in their field. Milana resides in Lake Bluff with her husband and their 3 year old daughter.
AMY CARDAMONE is the Assistant Director of Jenny's Dance Centre. She began her dance training with Jean Wolfmeyer in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, where she also gained teaching experience. Amy then furthered her study in dance, at Interlochen Arts Academy, in Michigan and summer schools in Boston, Champagne and Milwaukee. In 1995, she earned a B.A. in dance from Point Park College in Pittsburgh. Amy then moved to Chicago where she was an apprentice with River North Dance Company. Amy has taught in the Chicago area for 14 years. Her choreography and technical direction has helped to produce many dance champions at Jenny's Dance Centre and several of her students have been selected for Joffrey, American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Houston Ballet & The Rock School intensive training programs. She holds her Associate I teaching certificate from the Cecchetti Council of America.
DUSTIN CRUMBAUGH from Houston, TX, began his dance training at Houston Metropolitan Dance Center’s Met Too youth company. Since graduating high school, he spent two years as a dance major at Point Park University where he performed works by renowned choreographers such as Margo Sappington, Robert Battle, and Alan Hineline. He also trained with Ballet Austin and Alonzo King’s LINES Ballet, where he performed works by Stephen Mills, Septime Weber, Alonzo King, and Yannis Addoniou. Dustin joined Houston Metropolitan Dance Company as a professional company member in 2005. In December of 2007, Dustin relocated to Chicago, IL, where he danced with Luna Negra Dance Theater until June 2008, and Cerqua Rivera Dance Theater in 2010. Most recently he participated in Springboard Danse Montreal, where he created new works with Jose Navas and Julian Barnett.
MING DAVIS, from Beijing, China, graduated from Beijing Dance College. Upon her graduation, she danced and performed with Central Ballet Theatre of Beijing for eighteen years. In 1986, Ming came to the United States where she studied with Martha Graham in New York. She then moved to the Chicago area where she taught for Joel Hall Dance, Chinese Folk Dance in Chinatown and the former, Campbell's School of Dance, in Lincolnshire. Ming has taught at Jenny's Dance Centre for the past eight years and holds her Associate IV Teaching Certificate from the Cecchetti Council of America.
RAY DONES (Houston, TX) received his dance training at Houstons High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, the School of American Ballet, the Houston Ballet Academy, and Southern Methodist University. He has performed with "A Few Good Men...Dancing" under the direction of Jeff Amsden, Jason Parsons Project, Wes Veldink Movement, Cecila Marta Dance Co., and as guest artist with Poz Dance Theatre in Seoul, Korea. Dones has taught and choreographed all over the U.S. and internationally in Canada, Italy, Korea, Mexico, and Austria. In 2002, he received the Leo's Silver Award in Choreography at the Jazz Dance World Congress Chicago. Dones also served on the faculty of the Ben Stevenson's Houston Ballet Academy.
SINEAD GILDEA graduated from the University of Iowa, where she was a member of Dancers in Company (the University's professional touring company) for two years. She was a co-founder and the Executive Director of Impetus Dance Theater, a professional dance company based in Chicago. She has danced with Impetus Dance Theater, Same Planet Different World Dance Theatre, The Cerqua Rivera Art Experience, trained with River North Dance Company, and has had the pleasure of dancing for Harrison McEldowney, Eddy Ocampo, Randy Duncan, Jan Erkert, and many more. She has also danced in numerous dance festivals, performs regularly with various production companies, and has appeared in many prestigious benefit performances. She was a featured dancer for the Black Orchid Supper Club and Dance Captain for Flirt Cabaret. Her dancing has been seen on ABC, WGN, and WTTW. She currently teaches in the Chicagoland area and conducts Master Classes throughout the Midwest, and has been on staff at Lou Conte Dance Studio. Sinead has choreographed for Impetus Dance Theater, Fisher Dance Center's professional production of "The Journalist", Forum Jazz Dance Theatre, Midwest Dance Collective, Integrity Dance Project, The Dance Exchange, Prelude Dance Theatre, Oak Park and River Forest High School Dance Group, South Elgin High School Dance Team, Lake Zurich High School Orchesis, Mt. Prospect High School Orchesis, and holiday showcases Polar Express and Nightmare Before Christmas. Sinead is currently Co-Artistic Director of student dance ensemble Motions Dance Company. Her choreography for Motions has been featured in the Motions Annual Concert and other area concert dance performances, and has placed first at numerous regional and national talent competitions. Her choreography for Whitney Young High School was voted Best Choreography by the audience at Dance Chicago 2008's Dance Slam, and her dancing has been called "brilliant" by the Chicago Reader. Sinead has served as Artistic Consultant to Forum Jazz Dance Theatre and Midwest Dance Collective, and is a regional and national adjudicator for Applause Talent Competitions. We are excited to have Sinead as a part of our summer intensive team.
LINDSEY KATSETOS (CHOREOGRAPHER) received her early training in ballet, jazz and tap while growing up in Green Bay Wisconsin. Upon moving to Chicago in 2006 she took her first hip-hop class and immediatly fell in love with the style. For three years Lindsey was a dancer and choreographer to Hip-Hop Connxion Chicago. She was promoted to general director during her last year with the company. Currently under the direction of Karlo Famiara and Angelina Grima, Lindsey currently dances with [Design], an up and coming Hip-Hop company in Chicago. They are the first ever winners of Prelude Midwest Hip-Hop competition and Move if You Want It. She is not just a performer, as Lindsey has taught and choreographed all over the mid-west and Boston. She has received many choreography awards for her work in solo and duet pieces.
This summer she has the privilege of not only representing [Design], but also Chicago in the 2010 World Hip-Hop Championships.In September of 2009 Lindsey had the opportunity to be an assistant choreographer for the “O Project” which aired on the Oprah Show for her 24th season kick off featuring the Black Eyed Peas. Lindsey's teaching credits include the Lou Conte Dance Studio (Hubbard Street Dance Chicago), the DARE Dance after school program, Visceral Dance Chicago, Mass Motion Dance (Boston).
MICHELLE MANZANALES has been a choreographer, teacher and coach for Jenny’s Dance Centre since 2003. Besides her continued commitment to JDC, Michelle is the rehearsal director for Ballet Hispanico of New York and on the teaching staff for tHe beaT Dance Convention.
She is also very proud to be serving as an adjudicator this year for Dancin’ Downtown at the Joyce, a unique competition in NYC that is produced by and benefits Dancers Responding to AIDS, a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
A Houston native, Ms. Manzanales moved to Chicago, IL in 2003 to perform with Luna Negra Dance Theater (LNDT), where she became rehearsal director in 2006 and served as the interim artistic director 2009-10. Over her 7 years in Chicago, she was also on faculty at Lou Conte Dance Studio, home of Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
In her 18 years of teaching experience, she has taught for/been on staff at the University of Houston, Rice University, San Jacinto College South, Houston Metropolitan Dance Center, Regional Dance America, Festival de Danza Cordoba Youth American Grand Prix, Steven Boyd Dance Ensemble On Tour as well as numerous dance studios, high schools and college dance programs across the country. Her students’ accolades include NYCDA Teen Outstanding Dancer of the Year and numerous top awards from On Stage New York, Dance Masters of America, Showbiz, and LA Dance Force among others. As a choreographer, her homage to Frida Kahlo, Paloma Querida (created for Luna Negra in 2010), was described by the Sun-Times as a “gorgeously designed, richly hallucinatory, multi-faceted vision of the artist…”
In 2007, her choreographic debut for LNDT, Sugar in the Raw, was also applauded by the Chicago Sun-Times as "a staggering, beautiful, accomplished new work." Sugar in the Raw has since toured across the United States and Mexico including the New Victory Theater (New York, NY), Teatro Centro Cultural (Nuevo Laredo, MX), Palace Theater (Stamford, CT), Bankhead Performing Arts (Livermore, CA) and SUNY Wadsworth Auditorium (Geneseo, NY). Manzanales has also created works for Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre (Chicago, IL), Impetus Dance Theater (Chicago, IL), Momenta (Oak Park, IL), Houston Metropolitan Dance Company, the University of Houston and Rice University among others.
Five of her choreographic pieces have been recognized by the American College Dance Festival. In 2006, she had the great honor of having her work, entitled Pour Me Out, presented at the Kennedy Center (Washington, DC), as part of the American College Dance Festival National Gala. ACDFA bestowed this honor once again in 2008 when her piece, The Letting Go, was presented at the National Festival at Barnard College (New York, NY). Her choreography has also been presented by Texas Contemporary Weekend (Houston, TX), Spring to Dance (St. Louis, MO), Festival de Danza Córdoba (Veracruz, Mexico), and Fort Worth Dance Festival (Fort Worth, TX).
LEAH MILLER ALLEN has enjoyed teaching throughout the Chicagoland area since 2002. She began her dance training under the direction of Tina McMurray in LeMars, IA. She also began her teaching experience there teaching ballet, tap, and jazz. Leah went on to study dance at the University of Arizona. There she was a member of the U of A dance ensemble and was a featured soloist. Leah was also awarded the Citron Award for Outstanding Talent and the Kenneth Comstock Award. She has performed works by Amy Ernst, Susan Quinn, Mia Michaels, and Sam Watson. Upon graduating with a BFA in dance she moved to Chicago. Her performance credits include Impetus Dance Theatre, Instruments of Movement, Chicago Dance Crash, FLIRT Cabaret, and Jayson-Tisa Dance Company. She is currently a member of Cerqua Rivera Dance Theatre where she was appointed Dancer Liason. She continues to further her training at Lou Conte Dance Studio, Joel Hall, and Ruth Page. Leah is looking forward to another great year at JDC!
DIANNE SHIPLEY joins the JDC as an accomplished dancer. She has trained in all genres of dance including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. Dianne is a former student of Jenny’s Dance Centre where she was a member of the National Competition Company for four years. She has won numerous awards both regionally and nationally. Dianne has also choreographed for the JDC Company and her work has achieved several awards. She has studied with numerous teachers throughout the Chicagoland area and continues her education with Urban Beat.
